Applications are invited for the permanent position of Senior Medical Scientist - Quality Facilitator in the Microbiology Department of St. Vincent’s University Hospital.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 The post holder, in co-operation with the Chief Medical Scientist and the Consultant Head of Department will:

·       Work as part of the management team in co-operation with the Consultant Head of Department, Chief Medical Scientist, Pathology Quality Manager and Laboratory Manager to ensure the performance of the Microbiology Laboratory is professional, efficient and operates as cost effectively as possible. 

·       Actively contribute to the operation of the quality management system in pathology and microbiology. This quality management system complies with ISO 15189 (2022) and provides the governance framework for all processes in the department. 

·       Identify and promote ways of raising the quality of service to patients.

·       Take part in the microbiology Saturday rota.
