The post holder will actively promote collaboration across departments and professional boundaries with the aim of developing and embedding a sound open and fair culture of patient safety within the hospital.  A key activity will be to promote this culture through the provision of a high quality patient safety & clinical risk management service. 

One of the key objectives of the post is to assist with the ongoing development of the hospital’s risk management practices.  This will involve providing advice, guidance and practical activities such as risk assessment, incident management across all areas of hospital and implement agreed clinical risk management and patient safety strategies and projects throughout the hospital. The post holder will be key in promoting compliance with the DOH Open Disclosure Framework.

The post holder will be required to actively participate in the Hospital Quality Improvement Programme so that key objectives are addressed fully within the programme.

The post holder will also oversee the Falls Prevention Management and the Freedom of Information (FOI) & Claims Management functions of the department.
