Applications are invited for the position of Basic Grade Clinical Biochemist in the Clinical Chemistry Department of St Vincent's University Hospital.
Post Overview: St Vincent’s Healthcare Group Clinical Chemistry department includes St Vincent’s University Hospital (hub laboratory), St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Michael’s Hospital. The post holder will assist the Consultant Chemical Pathologist/Head of Department and senior staff in providing a comprehensive clinical biochemistry service. He/she should be self-motivated to undertake further training and the relevant postgraduate education necessary to advance their career as a Clinical Biochemist. He/she will be required to manage junior staff as well as deliver a broad range of specialised and routine scientific work requiring a high level of responsibility. There may be an enhanced role in the areas such as oversight of Internal Quality Control; the selection, evaluation and dispatching of samples to referral laboratories; or assist with managing the Quality Management Systems in conjunction with the Laboratory Management Team. Leadership in troubleshooting and problem solving will be a requirement of this post.
